Constitution of the Association

Article 1: Name

 The name of the organization shall be the Manitoba Association of Plant Biologists

Article 2: Object

The objectives of the association shall be:

  • to promote the study and understanding of plant biology in Manitoba;
  • to identify, and improve communication between, plant biologists in the province;
  • to arrange for the exchange and dissemination of botanical information;
  • to be able to provide a unified response on plant-related issues; and
  • to work toward greater emphasis on plant biology in the school curriculum.

Article 3: Membership

Full membership shall be open to those with formal training in plant biology, i.e. those with a Bachelor's degree (Hons or Major), or an advanced degree in such areas as Botany, Plant Ecology, Plant Science, Agronomy, Forest Biology, Horticulture, or similar plant-related fields.Associate membership shall be open to all who do not meet the formal degree requirement including undergraduate students in such areas as Botany, Plant Ecology, Plant Science, Agronomy, Forest Biology, Horticulture, or similar plant-related fields, and those who have acquired their knowledge and expertise through interest and on-the-job training. Associate membership shall bring the same rights and privileges as full membership except for voting privileges. Applications for full and associate membership shall be approved by the Executive.

Article 4: Executive

The executive of the association shall consist of the president, vice-president, immediate past president, secretary and treasurer.
