The Manitoba Association of Plant Biologists (MAPB) was formed in 1998 out of concern over a lack of emphasis on plant biology in Manitoba. MAPB works to encourage the hiring of staff with sound botanical training at universities, in government departments and in consulting companies. We encourage the incorporation of botanical material in school curricula, and work to help members of the media to make statements that are botanically correct. MAPB members have a strong interest in the field of plant biology and actively share their knowledge, interest and experience through scientific meetings, projects, workshops and cooperative field work.
